Round 12 Roundup
By: Jeremy |Ok, San Lorenzo drew and Tigre won, so they are now tied on top of the table, with Boca Juniors a little farther behind in third place.
Rosario Central beat up Gimnasia de Jujuy and River Plate drew with Newell’s Old Boys, leaving River in the very unfamiliar spot of being all alone at the bottom [...]
El Checho turns down el Diez
By: Jeremy |Sergio Batista turned down Diego Maradona’s offer of the assistant coaches position. Batista said that he wanted to continue working with the U-20 and the Olympic squad.
Maradona will consult with Carlos Bilardo to decide on who next to offer the position. It’s not exactly rats leaving a sinking ship yet, but a bit [...]
Pompilio Passes Away
By: Jeremy |I was checking out the news looking to see the latest on Team Diego and saw that Boca Juniors president Pedro Pompilio passed away this morning from a heart attack. He was 55 years old. The team canceled practice today and no word on what affect it will have on the weekend.
Measuring Diego’s Success
By: Jeremy |Well, now that the unthinkable has become reality, we have to get on with life. I feel like I am going to feel on Nov. 5th, after I wake up and my guy lost the election. Except I won’t be able to say I can’t believe that a crackhead won. And that’s [...]

Know the Candidates – Carlos Bianchi
By: Jeremy |El Virrey turned down the position twice in the past. Know he wants it. As a player he was as prolific a scorer as Maradonna. Possibly the best player to come from Velez-Sarsfield, scoring 206 goals in 324 games in two different spells. He led the French Ligue 1 in scoring [...]
Grondona in no hurry to name next coach.
By: Jeremy |AFA head Julio Grondona returned from Switzerland this morning around 6am in Bueno Aires. He said that he was in no hurry to make the selection. So don’t look for a successor until Monday. He cut his trip short by a day, and my guess is that he will spend the next [...]
