Another Coach Says Adios

By: Jeremy | March 9th, 2009

Following yet another Gimnasia de Jujuy loss, head coach Omar Labruna decided to call it quits. Well, technically he was fired, but it just sounds better the other way. Labruna becomes the third coach to part from his team just five weeks into the Clausura.

Sitting on just one point after five games and anchored to the bottom of the bottom of the table, Gimnasia had to do something to try and stave off relegation. I don’t think this move came as a surprise to anyone given the gravity of the situation in Jujuy.

The other coach still on the hot seat, Pepe Santoro seems to be on a little bit more solid footing after Independiente beat Boca Juniors this weekend. While I still think his days are numbered, this does allow him a little breathing room.
