Boca beats San Lorenzo
By: Jeremy | December 20th, 2008Boca Juniors pulled out a 3-1 victory over San Lorenzo in game two of the Triangular. The win allows Boca to control its own destiny. Winning or drawing against Tigre in the final game of the Triangular gives them the championship.
The win also threw a lifeline to Tigre. Whereas any points won by San Lorenzo would have knocked them out of the rance, now a victory next Tuesday over Boca and the championship goes to tiebreakers.
At this point, San Lorenzo have no chance to win the title, as they would lose any potential tie breaker.
The first tiebreaker is goal differential. San Lorenzo has a differential of – 1, Tigre has a differential of -1 and Boca sits at +2.
Total goals is the second, and San Lorenzo has 2 goals, Tigre has 1 goal and Boca has 3 goals.
The Scenarios:
Boca wins. They are champion with 6 points. San Lorenzo has 3 and Tigre 0.
Boca draws. They are champion with 4 points. San Lorenzo has 3 and Tigre has 1.
Tigre wins by 1 goal. Boca are champions based on goal differential. Boca +1, Tigre 0, SL -1
Tigre wins by 2 goal or more goals. Tigre are champions based on goal differential. Tigre +1 (or more), Boca 0 (or less), Tigre -1.
Simple, right? No chance for remains for San Lorenzo. Boca is in the driver’s seat, only needing to finish with no worse than a one goal loss.

I saw that. If he was in the US they’d try to prosecute him for animal cruelty.

Thanks Albo. I even reread the post to check all my math and I still missed the wrong scoreline.
