Matthaus to Coach Racing?
By: Jeremy | October 25th, 2009I saw this over on ESPN, so I am not sure what to make of it, but it appears that the Racing president Rodolfo Molina announced that ex-German captain Lothar Matthaus will be arriving in Argentina this week in time to watch Racing face Newell’s and then be taking over the management of the club.
TyC is reporting that it is a done deal, as is Clarín. One says he will be presented Thursday but probably not coach Saturday’s tie against Tucuman and the other says that he will.
Molina says that there was a lot of contact between the two and that Matthaus will bring an aggressive style of play to Racing.
Unless he brings a few strikers that can finish and a mid or two that can actually deliver the ball cleanly, not to mention a couple of central defenders, it’s hard to see what he can do to change the course that Racing is one.
I can’t decide if a) it is really going to happen, b) he’ll make any difference or c) Racing have gone crazy.
